Friends In Service to Humanity F.I.S.H. is a volunteer organization of people eager to help people through rough times.
Early Christians used the FISH symbol during the centuries of persecution to identify themselves to each other. At Eastside F.I.S.H. the letters stand for Friends In Service to Humanity. F.I.S.H. began in an English church in 1961 when parishoners were challenged to get their religion off its seat and onto its feet. Eastside F.I.S.H. was set up in 1970 and began operations in 1971 and presently operates a food pantry located at Alum Rock Covenant Church on Kirk Avenue. F.I.S.H. provides emergency supplies of food for 2 or 3 days to people in need. Help is available almost immediately at no cost. Those seeking assistance do need to contact the Food Connection at Second Harvest Food Bank and referrals to F.I.S.H. are for ZIP Codes 95116, 95121, 95122, 95127, 95131, 95133, and 95148. Food distribution occurs Monday through Friday between 12:30 - 1:30 PM. |
